Orion Region Wide Field RGB Image

Image Information

This wide field image of the Orion region covers 3.91° x 2.6° at an image scale of 3.51 arc seconds per pixel. Up is 90.5° East of North. This image shows IC420 in the upper left corner, open cluster NGC1981 left middle next to NGC1973, NGC1975, NGC1977and moving closer to centerNGC1976/M42, and NGC1982/M43. Continuing right is NGC1980 with IC428 and IC427 and NGC1999 near the middle right. Slightly below and right is IC429 and IC430 next to 49 Orion. On the larger images you can see traces of the geostationary satellites in the area.

This image was acquired using ACP version 6.2 and processed in Pix Insight version 1.8 RC5. The image consists of 21 - red, 21 - green, and 21 - blue images that each total 70 minutes for a grand total of 210 minutes or 3.5 hours. Subs were 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes. All images taken at -30°C. Average combined and HDRW wavelets applied to bring out faint detail.
